2011 Minnesota Youth State Basketball Championships
Boys & Girls - Grades 5-6-7-8-9
|
Pacesetter Sports will again be conducting qualifying tournaments in eight regions for all Minnesota youth teams in grades 5-9.
All teams are guaranteed 3 games in each regional tournament. The champions from each region will be invited to play in the Minnesota Youth Basketball State Championship at the College of St. Benedict in St. Cloud: Girls June 12 and Boys June 19. Every team that loses only one game will be invited to play in the Minnesota Invitational Tournament at St. Ben’s on June 11 for girls and June 18 for boys.
All teams that play in a regional tournament will be offered free tickets to a Minnesota Timberwolves game in 2011-2012.
The champion and runner-up from the Minnesota state tournament will be invited to play in the Great Four-State Tournament at the Target Center in Minneapolis in July and August competing against the top teams from South Dakota, North Dakota, and Iowa. Minnesota teams won three of the ten “Great State” titles in 2010: Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 8th grade boys, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 9th grade girls, and Mt. Iron-Buhl 5th grade girls.

Testimonials of 3-time State Champions |
Two of the most dominant Minnesota high school teams in recent history credit this play off system with helping their teams develop. Not only did these teams from small towns win their state class championships, but they both finished as the No. 1 ranked Minnesota team OVER ALL.
John Carlson, head boys' coach for Litchfield, Minnesota State Class AA Champions in 2000, 2002, and 2003:
"I can honestly say that we never would have had the success that we did without playing in the Pacesetter tournaments."
Bob Vaughan, head boys' coach for Braham, Minnesota State Class AA Champions in 2004, 2005 and 2006:
"Pacesetter tournaments were and are a key component to our youth and summer program."
